The issues with the global economy have impacted all of us. There is so much need, and sometimes it seems that there may not be enough to go around. So many people, animals and causes are so needy. It becomes overwhelming...

Why would you choose one thing over another?
To me, it's what's in your heart. Somehow, you know what things you need to do in this life. If something is important, you will find a few dollars, hours or some other way to help with the things that matter. When all is said and done, we all have to decide what we'll leave as our legacy.
What matters?
Here's something that matters to me and to many others whom I've connected with: Scooby Medina del Campo, the Galgo rescue centre in Spain, where I recently visited, volunteered and also adopted my beautiful Galga, Bless. As a non-profit organization, Scooby has experienced the impacts of the slowing economy. In fact, their situation has become urgent. If they cannot garner enough support for their needs, the facility will close by the end of 2011. Read more here.

Scooby closing shop simply cannot happen! There are many who care deeply and are taking action to help in every way that we can. Here's what we're doing:
We Need Dog Food Donations from a supplier in Spain
There is one HUGE thing that would help Scooby, and I continue my quest to find a supplier. Scooby desperately needs a regular supplier of donated dog food. I have written to several companies who donate food to shelters in the USA, but no luck for Spain as yet. If you have any ideas, please leave a comment to let me know.
Thank you for considering this worthy cause. Will keep you updated regarding status of Scooby.
Hasta Luego!

Hi Margie,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your wonderful blog about Scooby and the Galgos. How was the visit to Scooby? I am thinking of someday going to help out, but fear that I will become overwhelmed if I see Galgos who have been tortured by the hunters.
Shared, and encouraged others to do the same Diane. Hoping the needed funds to keep this shelter open are raised in the coming few months.
